TACOMA, Wash. - After picking up four points during a two-game road trip in Canada, the Tide FC return home Wednesday to take on the Washington Crossfire.
The match showcases two teams in the middle of the pack in the USL Premier Development League’s Western Conference Northwest Division. Tacoma (4-2-1, 13 points), in fourth place, is six points out of a tie for possession of the division’s final playoff spot, while Washington (2-4-0, 6 points) is in fifth place.
The Crossfire are new to the PDL after the Seattle Wolves FC transitioned its club's opperations to the Crossfire Premier Soccer Club.
In two contests against the Seattle Wolves FC, the Tide FC has walked off the pitch with a point in the standings each time. To start the season for Tacoma last year, the Tide FC left the soccer stadium at Starfire Sports Complex in Tukwila, Wash. with a 0:0 draw against Seattle. In the game, Tacoma goalkeeper Jordan Jennings had five saves, earning his first clean sheet on the season. One month later Tacoma hosted the Wolves at Curtis High School in a 2:2 draw. Up 2:1 in the 90th minute, Tacoma's hopes of walking away with three points were dashed when Wolves FC forward Alex Chursky burried a penalty kick to equalize.
The ties between the two teams go beyond the results from their matches against each other. The current Tide FC showcases two former Wolves FC players in Ty Klein and Dylan Tucker-Ganges. In eight games for Seattle last season, Klein recorded an assist. Tucker-Ganges saw action in four contests last season for the Wolves FC.
