Tacoma Tide 3 - 0 Abbotsford Rangers (Friday @ HOME)
Tacoma Tide 5 - 1 Cascade Surge (Saturday @ Salem, OR)
With the highest profile game on the Tacoma Tide schedule just a week away, the form of the Yellows was in doubt. A few shaky results in Utah and a frustrating tie at home from the previous two weeks left a few doubts as to where the Tide’s season would go. Those doubts were thoroughly washed away this weekend.
On Friday night at Curtis H.S. the Abbotsford Rangers came across the border to play the Tide. A dominating performance from a well rounded Tide squad resulted in a 3-0 victory. Chase Tangney continued his hot streak with his 3rd goal of the season on a nice pass from Rory Agu in the 40th minute. Then, early in the 2nd half, John Fishbaugher’s laser shot hit the top corner and cemented the Tide emblem on the victory.
Ciaran O’Brien, absent from last week’s match while he was playing in the u-19 bracket of Far West Regionals in Las Vegas, made his return to the roster and added a punch in the midfield. Also returning to the squad was Machael David. David, a Nigerian born player who plays at Gig Harbor H.S. came on as a substitute to score his first goal of the season.

Michael David continued to make a strong impact for the Tide. This time, it was not on the scoring end, but of the passing variety. David contributed an assist in the 23rd minute and in the 45th minute to give the Tide a 2-0 lead at half. As well as David played, however, the man of the hour was clearly Syracuse University’s Spencer Schomaker. Schomaker was not only the man who finished off the two Michael David assists with his left foot, but Schomaker also earned a penalty kick early in the 2nd half. Sitting on two goals and needing one more for a “hat trick”, the Tide players elected Spencer to take the kick. He scored his hat trick.
“It was obvious from the get-go that we would be too much for them,” – Assistant Coach, Keith Larson.
