TacomaTideSports.com – After returning essentially the entire 2009 team that went 14-8 and placed third in the International Basketball League’s West Division, Dontay Harris and his Tacoma Tide teammates wouldn’t have imagined a 2010 season like the one they experienced.

After dropping its first two games by a collective 221-198, the Tide eked two consecutive wins by an average margin 8.5 points; however, the team’s fortunes would prove to be short lived.  Tacoma’s next 10 games resulted in tallies in the team’s loss column.  During the 10-game stretch, Tacoma lost by as many as 33 points, coming in a May 1 matchup at Albany in which the Tide lost 136-103, and had three other defeats by over 20 points.

Tacoma would then win four of its next six games, with three coming in a row at home, prior to dropping the final two games of the regular season and the team’s first-round contest in the league’s postseason.

Harris, the IBL’s all-time leading scorer, was the team’s lone player to average a double-double, but averaged 14.7 points per game, down nearly six points from his career average and four from his 2009 average.  A four-time all star in the IBL, Harris played his final professional season of basketball in 2010.

While Harris’ point total took a dip, guard Antwan Williams’ took off.  The 6-foot-3 Williams put up 13.5 points in 2009, but became the Tide’s leading scorer in 2010, averaging 19.6 per game this season.  Williams contributed 30-plus points twice, with a season-high 32 coming April 16 against Olympia in a 97-95 loss on the road, and had 11 games of at least 20 points.

Williams, the University of Puget Sound product, was also Tacoma’s leader in assists, recording 6.9 per game.  Inking five games of at least 10 assists, the guard’s best night came June 11 in a 122-120 loss at Vancouver when he dished out 14 assists.  Of his six double-doubles in 2010, Williams had five consisting of double figures in points and assists.
