Tacoma Tide vs. Seattle Mountaineers Thursday May 14, 2009

The Tacoma Tide's first ever home game was a resounding success. Not only were the stands packed with cheering fans, but they were treated to a rivalry game of top notch caliber. In front of a record 1023 Tacoma Tide fans, the Tacoma Tide pulled off a hard fought battle Thursday night in a game that featured a great match up of the stars from each team. Donald Watts and Jamal Miller from Seattle vs. Dontay Harris and Lorenzo Rollins of the Tide.

In front of a passionate crowd the Tide entered half time with a 57-55 lead only to have it washed away by Donald Watts as he exploded for 11 of his game high 29 points and at the end of the 3rd quarter Seattle lead 94-85 over the Tide. The Tide then charged out in the 4th quarter led by Lorenzo Rollins 10 pts of his team high 24 to make a great come back and take a 3 pt lead with 1 minute left to go in the game. With Watts fouling out with 5 minutes left, Seattle struggled to maintain in control.

The final minute, however, was a battle between the two rivals in the paint, and with the game tied with 9.2 seconds left, Dontay Harris collected his final offensive rebound of his game high 16 and then hit a fall away behind the basket bucket that floated in and gave the Tide the 120-118 win. Seattle gave it one more shot and Jamal Millers runner with 2.3 seconds rimmed off and the rebound was collected by Quentin Nolen to end the game.
