Mr. Woo & the Tacoma Tide Team Up for Soccer
Juggling Superstar Meets Surf Dude

Mr. Woo, an international soccer icon lives for soccer. This last week, he lived for Puget Sound soccer. With the world renowned champion of freestyle soccer in town, it was a perfect time to debut the newest member of the Tacoma Tide team; Surf Dude. The new mascot excited crowds, added to the environment, and Mr. Woo did the rest. Mr. Woo, a native or South Korea, holds the world record for juggling the ball on his head for over 5 hours. He also says he’s overall juggling record is more than 9 hours!

Tide Ready Squad For 2008
Open tryouts yield contributing players

The weekend of April 5th and 6th gave a chance for the Tacoma Tide coaching staff to see local talent on display. The team’s Open Try-Outs fielded players from all over the Puget Sound as well as outside the state of washington. In the end, a few players were selected to return and train with the team in the near weeks. Since most of the Tide roster will be available on very short notice before the season opener in Spokane on May 9th, these trial players have a great chance to see time and make an impact in the squad. While there were a number of good performances on the weekend, the top head turner was probably William Kelly. Kelly is just completing his sophomore year at the University of Redlands, where he has played both Center and Outside Midfield positions, under Coach Ralph Perez. Prior to enrolling at Redlands, Will was on the Eastside Red FC U-19 2005 Washington State (WYSL) Champions, and two time (2004 & 2005) Washington State High School Soccer Champions (1A) from University Prep of Seattle. The rest of the Tide’s roster will be released in the coming weeks before the season starts in May.

A section of tryout players receive instruction from Head Coach, Fran O’Brien.
